推薦英國一個連英國人都鮮少人知道的歌劇勝地。

Glyndebourne is an English country house and the site of an opera. The Glyndebourne Festival Opera has been running since 1934. The house is near Lewes in East Sussex, England. It is 600 years old and a listed grade II building.  

John Christie obtained the use of the house in 1913. His fondness for music led him to hold regular amateur opera evenings here. In one of these evenings, he met his future wife, a soprano named Audrey Mildmay. They were married in 1931. On their honeymoon, they attended the Salzburg and Bayreuth festivals, which gave them the idea of bringing professional opera to Glyndebourne. They later decided to focus on smaller-scale productions of operas by Mozart since they were more suited for the smaller scale of the theatre. 

這個歌劇院可以說是全英國最好的兩大歌劇院之一，跟倫敦的 Royal Opera House可以平起平坐。

有一些人覺得 Glynebourne 的歌劇品質比 Royal Opera House 的還要好，因為 Glynebourne 演出前的練習、排演是出了名的特別長。他們的場景也是出了名的豪華複雜，ROH 有時走minimalist路線，Glynebourne則一定是場場精采。

除了欣賞歌劇，還包含一整套英國上流階級的人的活動，像是穿著 black tie 野餐，吃什麼喝什麼酒是有講究的。

票價相對於ROH高蠻多的，最最最便宜的是40磅，但這種票非常少，有一些歌劇就算是最便宜的票也需要一百多磅。一般來說是兩百磅左右。

Glynebourne 離 Brighton 大約一小時車程，不是自己開車的話，可以搭他們的 Lewes 火車站到 Glynebourne 的接駁車，但是只有一班。

抵達之後，要不然就是自己準備東西野餐，要不然就是到他們的餐廳用餐。也可以事先預定野餐套餐，還可以租用桌椅、專屬服務員。
