An ability which I think is important is the ability to cooperate. First, by collaborating with others, we can accomplish bigger projects. Second, by listening to other’s opinions, we can improve our academic performance. Take myself as an example. When I was in college, I participated in a robotics competition. I worked with students from other departments such as engineering, computer science, and marketing. Because of our team work, we won the championship. That’s the reason why I think so.
I prefer to buy items on the internet. First, by shopping on the internet, I can save a lot of time. For example, if I want to buy a pair of jeans, I can purchase it on Amazon. If I don't like it, I can always return it for free. Second, by shopping on the internet, I can save a lot of money. For example, if I buy a pair of jeans in a physical store, it would cost 500 NT dollars. However, if I buy the same pair of jeans online, I might be able to get it for just 400 NT dollars. The university is going to raise the fee for using the recreation center. The man in the conversation supports the university’s policy. First, as the facilities and equipment are old, not many students want to go to the recreation center. However, with more funds, the university can buy new equipment. In this way, more students may want to go to the recreation center. Second, the man thinks that as students also spend money on CDs or dinners, students can afford the fee for using the recreation center. That’s the reason why the man in the conversation supports the university’s policy. The professor uses an example to illustrate the concept of social learning. For example, there are a sister and a brother. One day, the sister wants to buy a toy. Therefore, she starts crying and screaming. In the end, her mom gives in and buys the toy for her. In this way, if the boy also wants to buy a boy, it is more likely that he will cry and scream to beg his mom to buy the toy for him as well. On the other hand, if the mom chooses to discipline the girl, the boy may not act like his sister. This is the example provided by the professor to illustrate the concept of social learning. The woman in the conversation is in a dilemma. She has a student teaching assignment and a Chinese history class at the same time. Therefore, she has to decide whether she should miss the class or she should do her assignment on a different day. I suggest that she should do her assignment on a different day. In this way, she does not have to worry that she will miss the class which is taught by a famous visiting professor. Also, she is planning to go to China in the future. By taking this class, she could have a better understanding of China. These are the suggestions I would like to give to solve the problem mentioned in the conversation. The professor uses examples to describe two seabird adaptations. The first adaptation is the wings. Take the albatross as an example. The albatross has long wings to hold still in the air. In this way, they can spend little energy to locate its food. The second adaptation is the ability to smell. Take the fulmar as an example. The fulmar has tiny tubes in its nose. In this way, the fulmar can locate the tiny organisms by smelling them. These are the examples provided by the professor to describe two seabird adaptations.
