An ability which I think is valuable is the ability to cooperate. First, by collaborating with others, we can accomplish bigger projects. Second, by listening to others’ opinions, we can improve our work performance. Take an engineering team as an example. An engineering team usually has members from different backgrounds, such as engineering, computer science, and business. To successfully complete a task, every member has to work closely with others. That’s the reason why I think so.
I prefer to read the news. First, by reading the news, I can read only the news I am interested in. For example, I prefer to read the news on the internet. In this way, I can select the sections I am interested in, such as news about health, education and finance. Second, we usually have to spend more time if we read the news. In this way, we will have more time to think about and reflect on the news. It is more likely that we can learn something from the news. For example, I like to read financial news. In this way, I can make good investment choices. That’s the reason why I prefer to read the news. As the energy costs are too high, the university is going to reduce the energy costs. However, the woman in the conversation opposes the university’s policy. First, as there is not enough room for students to study in the library, it is necessary for students to study in the classrooms after classes. Unfortunately, if the university decides to lower the temperature in the classrooms after classes, students cannot study in the classrooms. Second, some buildings are too old and need to be repaired. If the university can fix those buildings, the university can reduce its energy costs as well. That’s the reason why the woman in the conversation opposes the university’s policy. The professor uses an example to explain the concept of franchising. Take the professor as an example. If he wants to open a pizza restaurant. He wants to consult a company who owns many pizza restaurants. In this way, the company can provide him with the training he needs. For example, the company can teach the professor to make their special pizzas. Also, as franchising has a loyal customer base, the professor will have a better chance to succeed/be successful. However, the professor may not have a lot of freedom or choices (much freedom/ many choices) in running his own business. That is the example provided by the professor to explain the concept of franchising. The woman in the conversation is doing some research for her paper. However, her professor is going to teach in another university next semester. Therefore, she has to decide whether she should ask another professor to supervise her or she should ask her professor to teach her long distance. I suggest that she should ask another professor to supervise her. In this way, the new professor can provide her with some new perspectives. Also, she does not have to worry that her professor cannot monitor her work. These are the suggestions I would like to give to solve the problem mentioned in the conversation. The professor uses examples to explain two defense mechanisms. The first mechanism is fantasy. For example, a woman lost her dog so she felt hopeless and sad. By fantasy, she will imagine that a nice family found her dog. In this way, she could keep the negative feelings away from her. The second mechanism is sublimation. By sublimation, she may want to set up a training school to prevent other people from losing their pets. These are the examples provided by the professor to explain two defense mechanisms.
